2 of 2 people found the following review helpful When You Gotta Have A Touchscreen, April 25, 2011 This review is from: HP Pavilion dv6t Select Edition - Windows 7 Home Premium, Intel Core i5-450M Dual Core processor 2.40GHz, 6GB DDR3 Ram, 640GB HD, 512MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470, Blu-ray +/-R/RW with SuperMulti DVD+/-R/RW, 15.6" diagonal High Definition LED HP Widescreen with TouchScreen and HP TouchSmart's intuitive multi-touch applications, Webcam, Intel Wireless-N Card with Bluetooth (Personal Computers) High Points:
-Features: A complete desktop replacement, fast, responsive, multi-tasks, comes with lots of memory
-Touchscreen Option (though sometimes it drags a bit)
-Touchpad Locking Mechanism (always nice to have)
-Beautiful HD Display
-Back Lit Keyboard
-Web Camera: Actually pretty decent, no dragging
-Finger Print Reader: Works very well
-Very sturdy casing and asthetically pleasing design
-Runs Quietly and Doens't Overheat for the most part
Lower Points:
-Battery Life: I get about 4 hours out of this if I'm just using word processing, otherwise I get about 2
-Size: A bit large to carry around with you everywhere you go and it's a bit heavy for that as well (about 5.5 lbs)
-HP Touchsmart Software: Not very zippy (the interface loads slowly as do the applications in the interface - slower than I would like for sure & sometimes it takes a couple of tries to open some of the options)
Conclusion:... Read more
4 of 5 people found the following review helpful Great PC, Dolby Audio sucks, Great weight, Good All around, November 5, 2010 By This review is from: HP Pavilion dv6t Select Edition - Windows 7 Home Premium, Intel Core i5-450M Dual Core processor 2.40GHz, 6GB DDR3 Ram, 640GB HD, 512MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470, Blu-ray +/-R/RW with SuperMulti DVD+/-R/RW, 15.6" diagonal High Definition LED HP Widescreen with TouchScreen and HP TouchSmart's intuitive multi-touch applications, Webcam, Intel Wireless-N Card with Bluetooth (Personal Computers) I like this laptop. Picked it up for work. I've tended to stick with HP prodcuts as I've not had many issues with them. I've owned 5 HP laptops in the past 10 years.
This one is nice, had it customized from HP. The LCD is nice and bright when it needs to be, so far batter life is where i expected it, I put windows professional 64bit on it, fun!
I do wish it had a DVI port so I can use my dual LCD screen while at the office, but i'll have to look into getting a vga port splitter and see if that works. i'll repost later.
Sadly this laptop has one less USB port than my DV7000, but this one DOES come with eSata... but now I have to look into getting something with that connection.
There is one HDMI out, haven't tested it yet, but I will. The graphics card is nice, does the job. Seems to have enough power (ATI 512MB) to do anything I need so far (no gaming yet).
The sound SUCKS. Dolby is better off than on. No clue why its even on... Read more
1 of 1 people found the following review helpful Very poor assembly quality, December 4, 2011 By Mr. Twister (Minneapolis, MN) - See all my reviews This review is from: HP Pavilion dv6t Select Edition - Windows 7 Home Premium, Intel Core i5-450M Dual Core processor 2.40GHz, 6GB DDR3 Ram, 640GB HD, 512MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470, Blu-ray +/-R/RW with SuperMulti DVD+/-R/RW, 15.6" diagonal High Definition LED HP Widescreen with TouchScreen and HP TouchSmart's intuitive multi-touch applications, Webcam, Intel Wireless-N Card with Bluetooth (Personal Computers) HP quality starts to be so disappointing, that this was possibly my last HP purchase.
I tried 2 of these dv6t Select laptops (both bought at Costco.com) - both had serious quality issues and got returned to Costco:
LAPTOP 1:
1. The grid (above the keyboard, below the lid) was crooked - you could see with a naked eye from a few feet away that it was warped.
2. There was a dead pixel on the screen.
LAPTOP 2:
When I open the lid, right hinge starts pushing on the LCD screen from inside, and I could clearly see a big bright blotch that appears in the right lower corner of the screen every time the lid is moved up, then goes away until the next time I move the lid. Needless to say, this kind of defect would very soon lead to screen problems.
Also, dark umber brushed metal finish is very impractical - fingerprints are very visible and look pretty ugly.
